While 2020 was a year most of us will not remember fondly, it is a year many of us are still thankful for — the Karl Wulf Real Estate Group included. The Ontario real estate market as a whole did quite well last year despite two province-wide lockdowns. And as an essential service, we as real estate salespeople quickly learned how to pivot our offerings to keep ourselves and our clients safe while continuing to help them buy and sell homes.

Throughout 2020, many people who quarantined in condos in the city headed west to Halton Region, ditching elevators, balconies, and small living spaces for increased square footage and spacious yards. Because of this influx of buyers, we saw fierce competition for residential properties, particularly in mature neighbourhoods where larger lot sizes and homes with pools were in high demand. We expect this trend to continue through the 2021 spring and summer markets as a result of the second lockdown, and with mortgage rates at an all-time low, we predict the Halton Region housing market will continue to flourish as it did in 2020.

No matter what type of property you own in Halton, it is a great time to sell — and with the right real estate agent and team, the entire process should be safe and seamless. Our team has implemented strict procedures to ensure the safety of our sellers and their prospective buyers. For example, we have been conducting virtual showings and open houses, pre-qualifying potential buyers before showings, and previewing properties while recording walk-throughs, so that our clients can be sure they are serious about a property before making an appointment to view it in person.

As we move into 2021, our team is continuing to incorporate the latest Keller Williams technology into our day-to-day business, leveraging a plethora of innovative features to help us manage our clients, listings, contacts, and so much more. Seasoned realtor Kristeena Berube joined in 2018, bringing with her a strong background of successfully assisting both home-buyers and sellers in Hamilton, Burlington, Toronto, and Niagara. In 2019, Josh Reagan joined the team, adding specialties in real estate investment, custom home-building, and luxury home transactions throughout the GTA. 

Erin Alvarez joined the team in 2020, bringing six years of real estate sales experience in Halton and Hamilton, plus more than a decade as a communications specialist in the areas of marketing, public relations, and journalism. Married to a paramedic and sister and cousin to police officers, Erin offers a unique buying and selling experience for fellow first responder families. 

Also in 2020, Hanish Nagrani joined the team as a buyer specialist. A true globetrotter, Hanish was born in Zimbabwe, raised in Welland, Ontario, educated on a full Division 1 golf scholarship in the U.S., and is now a resident of Oakville, where he channels his unique perspective and passion into helping clients buy and sell homes.

Supporting the team from an operations perspective is Sara Backley. Sara spent over a decade in customer and technical support, followed by more than 15 years in all aspects of real estate administration and operations. Her 25+ years of experience makes her a significant asset to the team.   

Navigating through the home-buying and selling process can be daunting at the best of times, so we know it’s certainly not ideal amidst a global pandemic. We are continuing to watch the market closely, and we believe this year has some good things in store for those hoping to make a move.
